I am a reckless person :: July 24th, 2007
There’s something that someone asked me when they first saw the site:
“I know baseball cards don’t have half the liquid value they used to, but admit it: you run through a Beckett’s pricing guide before destroying one, don’t you?”
I, uh, totally don’t. I suppose I might pause a little if I ever pull out the scissors and look at a card and find myself thinking “man, isn’t that guy famous? And he looks so young!” But, heck. My dad has an old Sandy Koufax that’s worth a couple hundred — that’s a card. This over-produced late-80s bike-spokes fodder? Five bucks lost to an art project balances out just fine against the worry and research of vetting these things.
And what if I found a card that had just the perfect expression for a new strip, and it turned out it was worth ten or twenty bucks? O dilemma!
So, to sum up: please send me email if you see a really valuable card has been cut up, so that I can feel like kind of an idiot.
